Release highlights

• Front end migration to GTK 4
• New color management system (RGB, LinearRGB, DeviceCMYK, Gray, Lab, Lch, Luv, CMS - Color managed ICC profile based, HSL, HSV, HSLuv, OkLab, OkLch, OkHsl, XYZ)
• Fill & Stroke pane refactored (+ recolor feature)
• Selection and group behavior more aligned to industry standards (introduce lasso to select objects, clearer and more coherent appearance).

Canvas

Selections

Selection boxes, touch to select and lasso select look nicer now. Normal selection is blue, deselection is pink touch box selection has a striped pattern and lasso mode now works on objects too.

Tools

Select tool

You can now deselect objects from selection more easily.

• Ctrl+Shift+drag: Removes objects from selection

• Ctrl+Shift+Alt+drag: Removes objects from selection with touch selection

When you select by click and dragging selection boxes have new look:

• Blue box - normal selection, select object that are fully inside of this box
• Blue box with dashed fill - Touch selection, select any objects within or partially in this box
• Pink box - remove from selection objects fully in the box
• Pink box with dashed fill - unselect touched objects
• Blue line/lasso - select touched objects
• Pink line/lasso - unselect touched objects

Measurements tool

Added new options in to pop up in a toolbar of Measurements tool. You can change Display options. And we also added ability to copy selected measurement as a text.

Color pickers

Color pickers are now implemented as popovers instead of flowing windows.They also give better feedback to user with hover states, active stat and disable state

Fill and Stroke

The new Fill and Stroke Dialog in Inkscape 1.5

The Fill and Stroke dialog has been redesigned with a number of improvements.

• The FillNStroke widget was replaced with the new UI::Widget::PaintSwitch widget (MR #7748).
• Linear and Radial Gradients are now toggles of the same gradient option.
• Recolor feature (replace colors globally)
