- Question: Should we move to GPL3+?
- Question: Is our current licensing compatible with GPL3+ dependencies?
Inkscape's own software is licensed under GPL2+.
We depend on code that is licensed GPL3+:
- GNU Scientific Library (lib2geom, some LPE's).
- GNU Readline (shell mode) New!
We did depend on some Gimp widgets that were GPL3 but those have been replaced with new C++ widgets.
Current "Copying" file.
Discussion during board meeting:
bryce @inkchatbot 7:48 PM team_devel Mc, re: gpl2+ yes we can license as that and distribute inkscape as 3+. In fact we effectively had to do that (legally at least) due to the gimp 3+ bits.
