- The Working with SVN link must be removed from the front page. Also, consider removing the refereed SVN page from this wiki.
- Can we move the INX extension descriptor format link to Developer tutorials ▶︎ Extensions, please?
Links to languages
Please replace the following line in the wikitext of the page:
Other languages: Wiki en español, Wiki en Català, Wiki em Português, Wiki auf deutsch...
with the following line:

The page would still render like now, but users would be able
to link more localized versions as they write them. One cannot do that currently, because the main page is protected from editing. I guess that spambots are not clever enough to read the wiki markup and determine they could edit the template to work around protection (it's just a guess though).

Also Main Page include template --아라는 다 알아 13:44, 6 May 2012 (UTC)
In practice: Please replace the current Main Page with this enhanced version. In other words, copy-and-paste the wikitext that you can read here. This new version contains the enhancements by 아라|아라 and me, which ease the task of writing and reporting new localized versions of the main page. --Marko 15:59, 6 May 2012 (UTC)
Profession-specific sections?
I'm interested in creating a section of this wiki for topology/geometry-oriented mathematicians using Inkscape (a pretty big group of people), where we can share profession-specific solutions, tips, etc. Does this seem appropriate?
If so, I would like to suggest that whoever can edit the main page add a section under User documentation titled Profession-specific documentation or something like that. Then I will add Geometry and Topology as an item on that page.
(I could put it under Tricks and Tips, but this seems like I want to do more than just “miscellaneous advice, may be slightly outdated.” Thanks!) D.gay
Social Media
There should be a link to a social media landing page on the main page
The landing page should have links to pages about:
- Google Plus
- IRC
- other appropriate communication points

(The Wiki is meant to be closed down at some point)
Why would people shut down a wiki? --Robert
Because there is nobody who wants to do the administration work, and because there are plans to reorganize the info into other places (I don't agree with them, but they exist). Currently, the Wiki is meant to only hold info for developers (and, to a lesser extent, for organization of project internals). The website is intended to hold the user-facing info. If you want to dive deeper into the discussion with all its reasons and the possible replacement suggestions, you'll need to plow through the devel mailing list archives, January 2017.

Thanks for your post.
I'm more than happy to do the administrative work.
I'm not a fan of a single organization system for information.
If no one can provide a summary, I'm concerned a real decision really hasn't been made.

If you have any Linux sysadmin qualifications (i.e. setting up of proper encryption, updating Mediawiki (and the system), mail server fixes, etc.) then the person to contact would be Martin Owens, with mailing list in CC (because the plans sounded pretty solid to me).
I'm not sure what you mean by 'if no one can provide a summary' - look at the list emails. Bryce only very recently hinted at the Wiki changes being the next topic on his check list, so closure does not seem to be very far away.

I would be very upset if they shut the wiki down.
I use a bitnami stack on both my home desktop, and in an Ubuntu virtual box on my work laptop. Bitnami is great for handling the releases of mediawiki.
By a summary I mean at a minimum a link to the discussions, but even better, a description about the thinking involved and the participants.
This is the primary way I can see helping the project right now. If they want me to move the content to another host, there are several available, although the trademark restriction tend to be more of an issue than any technical challenges.
