aged 14 i didn't know the term 'vector graphic', but that's exactly what i was creating.
my presentations at school were always clearly above my colleagues.
The year was 1990, Acer 286 desktop, 2MB RAM, 20MB hard disk.
The applications were supercalc 5, wordperfect 5.1 and jetsetter.
jetsetter was a monochrome svg app, running under MS DOS 5.
with limited options I was more creative and more productive.
Today, with a million options, I must remember the purity of the old experience and identify the essential concepts.
then i can TRY to produce an image containing exactly what's needed.
study nature: enjoy the sunrise, climb in trees... study shadows: on a sunny day, watch the ground beneath the trees. practice drawing and painting with real materials: make charcoal, squeeze berries, use coloured earth, scrape off rust, watercolour using food-dye from the supermarket...
Digital photography is now so cheap, that no excuses remain for poor composition:
Learning is doing.
