As a KDE user and a Windows user at work, I would have to say that I don't like the gnomish dialogs, especially on Windows. It would be nice if it defaulted to the "My documents" folder in windows. Suggestion to Improve Useability of Working Folders
SUMMARY: In Windows, the home folder of the user is not a suitable repository for documents, and neither is any Program installation folder. Currently the default working folders for Inkscape are inappropriate for the Windows environment, and in some cases, are locked for non-administrative users by default.
PROPOSALS: 1. Introduce option to set preferred Open/Save folder. 2. Introduce option to set shared data folders path, so sysadmins can relocate them if desired.
